Manufacturing Parameters Optimisation thro variable search methodology - IMTMA/S002

Programme Background

In the present day scenario, we need to develop Process design experts in Organization to compete at a Global level and to meet the demands of the customers in-terms of Quality, Cost and Efficiency. These experts should have a great skill of designing processes which are Optimal in-terms of Productivity, Cost and Quality. One should never over design or under design a process.

This exclusive program from IMTMA will develop the skills of Process parameter Optimization in a structured way using a Shainin methodology called “Variable Search”.

The programme will be directly applicable for optimization of - All types of metal cutting / machining, Injection moulding and Blow moulding, Pressure die casting, Rubber moulding, Heat treatment (or) any other where the processes are predominantly parameter driven.

Focus Areas
  • Introduction to DOE – variable search methodology for process parameter optimisation
  • Steps in optimisation – Planning, Analysis, Improve and Control
  • Selection of Process for Characterization and Optimization
  • Selection of Design parameters
  • Identification of two setting levels for Design parameters
  • Defining the Quality responses for monitoring
  • Data collection to check whether Quality parameters are getting affected or not
  • Calculation of D/d ratio
  • Data collection and Construction of graph to pin-point which of the parameters are affecting the Quality
  • Finding out the contribution of important parameters using Factorial analysis
  • How to do Factorial analysis in Minitab software
  • Building relationship between the Design parameters and the responses
  • Construction of Two way data table in Excel and finding out all the Optimal settings for validation and implementation
  • Exercise on the methodology learnt

The need for Productivity Institute

  • Is your work place suffering from poor productivity?
  • Do you feel that supervision is weak on the shop floor?
  • Do your shop floor personnel find it difficult to achieve targets?
  • You have the machine in place, but not the men to optimize usage?
